Introducing OKX Money: Digital Dollars That Keep Up With Modern Life
Today, we are introducing OKX Money, a standalone app that lets people save, send and spend digital dollars. It brings dollar-backed stablecoin savings, the ability to earn on eligible balances, and virtual and physical cards together in one straightforward experience, so customers can manage their digital dollars in a globalized world and use them for everyday purchases at home or abroad.
OKX Money is designed for people across regions where currency fluctuations, limited access to banking services, and foreign exchange fees can make it difficult to protect savings and spend globally. For many, accessing US dollar savings requires a foreign bank account or relationship with a financial institution. We built OKX Money to lower those barriers.
Even for people who can access global transactions, foreign exchange fees can add 2% to 5% to every purchase. Crypto offers a solution, particularly through dollar-denominated stablecoins, but most stablecoin products are not built with first-time crypto users in mind. That matters because roughly 70% of the people we want to serve have never used a crypto application.
OKX Money is designed to keep the underlying technology in the background. Customers can focus on what they want to do with their money – save it, send it or spend it – without needing to understand how blockchain works.
What OKX Money Offers
OKX Money brings together services that people often access through separate products, including dollar-backed stablecoin savings, earnings on eligible balances, global transfers, and everyday spending through a virtual or physical card, all in one standalone app.
Customers can fund their accounts using more than 50 supported currencies, with the funds converting into dollar-backed stablecoins. They can hold USDG, USDC or USDT and convert between supported stablecoins without conversion fees.
Qualifying customers can get rewarded up to 10% APY on eligible USDG balances, with no staking or lockup required. From the same app, they can use a virtual or physical card to spend globally. When they make a purchase in another currency, OKX Money charges zero foreign exchange fees and adds no conversion markup.
OKX Money also includes a loyalty program offering eligible customers up to 10% cashback on qualifying purchases, and a referral system that lets customers earn commissions when the people they invite activate their card and spend. When those friends make eligible referrals of their own, the original customer can also receive a commission. We designed it this way deliberately. In markets where trust travels through personal networks, we believe distribution should too.
Building for the Long Term
OKX operates under regulatory licensing frameworks in more than 30 jurisdictions, reflecting our commitment to building responsibly for the long term.
Emerging markets are more than a short-term growth opportunity for us; we view our work in these markets as a long-term infrastructure obligation. Hundreds of millions of people have been excluded from dollar-denominated savings and frictionless global spending because the infrastructure was never built for them. We believe it is our responsibility to help change that.
OKX Money is the first step in a longer program. We are beginning in participating markets and will expand as we demonstrate that the product performs and that customers are well served. We will not scale faster than our ability to support them.
The goal for financial infrastructure is straightforward: it should protect what people earn, not erode it. It should also make that money easier to save, send and spend. That is what we are building with OKX Money.
