Today’s US jobs release matters less as a single risk-on/risk-off trigger than as a test of whether softer hiring is arriving without a material labor-market break. Consensus points to 84,000 new jobs and 4.1% unemployment; claims at 197,000 keep that interpretation conditional. With core PCE at 3.0% YoY, the Fed still has room to wait.
