BTC at $82,600, do you dare to add to your position?
ETF outflowed $487 million in a week, leverage just wiped out 1 billion, the three-week consecutive rise was interrupted, Trump’s one sentence pushed oil prices down, BTC was forcibly pulled back from 80,500 to 82,600. Is this wave really the "end of the shakeout" or a pit dug for you in a downtrend continuation?
First, look at the surface: down 34%, but some are still calling a bull market.
BTC current price 82,600, down 3% this week, the three-week consecutive rise is broken. On Thursday it dropped to 80,500, the lowest in two and a half weeks. From last October’s ATH of 126,000, it has dropped a full 34%. Market cap is 1.66 trillion, still sounds huge, but the numbers in your account won’t lie to you.
Candlesticks tell you: the 4-hour level is a rebound after a breakdown, volume is recovery after liquidation, not a new main rise. 82,600 is stuck right in the middle between 80,500 and 84,000, awkward both ways.
First thing: Trump said no attack on Iran, but don’t be too happy yet.
Trump said no attack on Iran before the midterm elections on November 3. Oil prices fell back from the intraday high, the dollar weakened, BTC followed suit pulling back from 80,500 to 82,600.
Sounds like good news? Brent crude is still hovering around 104. This is not risk removal, it’s just shortening the fuse on the bomb. Geopolitics is like this: when it’s not exploding, you think it’s fine; when it explodes, you don’t even have a chance to run.
Second thing: ETF is running, leverage just got bloodied.
Spot Bitcoin ETF net outflow about $487 million, leverage liquidation close to $1 billion. In late September, there was an inflow of 3 billion over eight trading days, now the wind direction has completely reversed.
The money flowing out won’t say hello, it will quietly leave, and by the time you notice, 80,500 won’t be the floor anymore.
The Fed minutes are still on the table, most participants think there might be one more rate hike before year-end. The 10-year yield once surged to 5.35%, then fell back to 5.23% on Friday. As long as the yield goes above 5.4%, your leverage is made of paper.
Third thing: Technicals tell you, 82,600 is not the place to add to your position.
The path is clear: October 5 failed at 87,000 → October 7 at 83,560 → October 8 at 82,800 → Thursday 80,500 → today 82,600.
The upper 83,500-84,000 is a lost platform, now turned into a supply zone. Without volume to stand back above 84,500, don’t talk to me about 87,000. 85,000 is a reduction zone, 86,500-87,000 is last week’s high.
Below, 80,500 is Thursday’s low, 80,000 is a round number and the lifeline of this round. Daily close below 80,000, next target is 78,000. Some mark a deeper retracement at 72,000—that’s conditional, not happened yet.
Bull vs. bear, you decide:
On one side:
Supply contraction after halving still ongoing, cumulative ETF net inflow still a demand bottom
Hashrate normal, network fundamentals intact
80,500 has buyers, short-term rebound valid
Trump suppresses oil price, short-term risk appetite recovers
On the other side:
ETF net outflow $487 million, leverage liquidation $1 billion, funds withdrawing
Year-end rate hike expectations remain, yields may surge again anytime
ETH weaker, altcoins grinding, BTC alone can’t carry
84,000 can’t be reclaimed, rebound is just a chance to reduce positions
Key level 82,600, danger both ways.
Above: 83,500-84,000 (supply zone) → 84,500 (volume needed to be effective) → 86,500-87,000
Below: 80,500 (Thursday low) → 80,000 (lifeline) → 78,000 → 72,000 (extreme condition)
Operation strategy
Aggressive:
At around 82,600, try very light long positions, stop loss at 80,800. First target 83,500, second target 84,200. Reduce half at 83,200. Don’t add if oil price jumps again.
Conservative:
Wait for 80,000-80,500 to consider, stop loss 78,800. Better to wait to stand back above 84,500 before following. If not reached, stay out. Staying out is not shameful, liquidation is.
Breakout:
Only consider chasing if volume supports a stable hold above 87,000 and pullback doesn’t break 85,500, target 90,000. This condition is not met now.
Bearish:
If rebound between 83,800-84,200 is weak, can lightly short for a pullback, stop loss 84,800, targets 81,000 and 80,500. Don’t short blindly near 80,000.
Position iron rules:
Single trade risk no more than 2% of total funds, leverage no more than 3x. This week already swept through two rounds of longs, you’re no match for the market maker, don’t bet your life.
Risk control priority:
Daily close below 80,000, reduce positions, next target 78,000.
If 10-year yield rises above 5.4% or Brent stabilizes above 105, reduce leverage first.
If ETF continues outflow next week, 82,600 will likely retest 80,500.
BTC now is like Nasdaq in 2022—
Everyone is waiting for the "last drop," but as it drops, leverage blows up first, faith disappears first, chips change hands first.
Buying at 82,600 is buying "someone catching at 80,500," not "immediate recovery of 34% retracement." You’re betting on a rebound, institutions are betting on you catching the bag.
Trump’s one sentence can pull back 2,000 points, or crush 3,000 points with one sentence. This is not investing, this is gambling on news.
What you can do is defend 80,000 or wait to stand back above 84,500, not go all-in here.
