$2700 ETH, what are you waiting for?
ETF outflows have hit $90 million for two consecutive days, Glamsterdam goes live on the testnet tomorrow but no sign of the mainnet, and you keep getting repeatedly poked around the $2700 whole number level — this spot isn’t cheap, it’s stuck grinding in the $2680-2770 supply zone wearing you down. You think you’re bottom-fishing, but you’re actually playing the counterparty to the whales.
First glance: up 2%, but going nowhere.
Grinding between $2650-$2780 for nearly two weeks, up 2% in the last 7 days, stuck after being lifted from $2400 over the last 30 days. Today’s low was $2696, high $2740, and the $2700 you see is right in the middle of the range. ATH was $4946, still 45% away. This is not an independent main rally, it’s a box consolidation following BTC.
First thing: ETF money has stopped.
The week of Sept 21-25 still saw inflows of $690 million, but the following week had a net outflow of $138 million. Oct 1 was -$55 million, Oct 2 -$37 million, with ETHA and FETH hit hardest.
Cumulative net inflow is still $13.8 billion, total assets $17.5 billion — money hasn’t fully withdrawn, but buying has paused.
The painful truth: BTC was still seeing inflows in the same period, ETH relatively weaker. Institutions are buying BTC and selling ETH. Still dreaming of ETH catching up?
Second thing: Glamsterdam goes live on testnet tomorrow, but don’t get excited.
At 13:53 UTC on Oct 6, Sepolia testnet activates. Listen carefully — testnet, not mainnet. The mainnet schedule hasn’t been moved up.
In plain terms: this is just a checkmark on the roadmap, not a bullish catalyst to price today. Developers are proceeding step-by-step, the market shouldn’t get ahead of itself.
Third thing: staking lock-up story remains, but is offset by ETF outflows.
Institutional products are absorbing circulating supply, that’s the mid-term narrative. The problem is short-term — ETF money is running, the locked staking volume can’t support the price.
Buying at $2700 is betting on “structure intact,” not “ETF re-accumulation.” These two are worlds apart.
Bull vs. bear showdown, judge for yourself:
On the bullish side:
Daily moving averages still bullish, mid-term structure intact
Staking lock-up + Layer2 fees + ETF channels, fundamentals still there
BTC holding 86,000, weak nonfarm payrolls, rate hike odds below 20%
$2640-$2650 defended multiple times, short-term bottom solid
On the bearish side:
ETF continuous net outflows, unlikely to hold $2700 this week
$2770-$2800 is the ceiling and liquidation zone for two weeks, failed three times
BTC breaks below 84,500, ETH likely to drop to $2640 first
10-year US Treasury at 5.25%, strong dollar, risk assets under pressure
Key levels:
Above: $2730-$2740 (today’s supply) → $2770-$2800 (ceiling + liquidation zone) → $2900-$3000 (only talk if daily closes above $2770)
Below: $2670-$2680 (4-hour pivot) → $2640-$2650 (previous lows) → $2610-$2630 (liquidation zone) → $2440-$2480 (channel lower bound)
Trading strategies:
Aggressive:
Light long near $2700, stop loss at $2645. First target $2740, second $2770. Take half off at $2730. Don’t be greedy, this spot isn’t for all-in.
Conservative:
Wait for $2650-$2670, stop loss $2610. Better entry is $2580-$2620.
Breakout:
Only consider chasing if volume breaks and holds above $2780, with pullback not below $2730, target $2900. Fake breakout, abandon immediately, don’t fight.
Bearish:
Light short on failed rallies at $2750-$2780, stop loss $2810, targets $2680 and $2650.
Risk management priorities, memorize:
Daily close below $2640 → reduce position, next support at $2580, $2480
ETF continues net outflow this week → $2700 likely to break
BTC breaks below $84,500 → ETH deleverages first
$2700 isn’t cheap, it’s stuck grinding in the supply zone.
What you can do is defend the box, not all-in at $3000.
Survive until $2640 breaks or $2780 holds — that’s ten thousand times more important than gambling on a breakout with high leverage at a round number.
Watch two things: can $2770 break, and will ETF outflows stop this week.
