ETH at $2570, are you ready to bottom-fish?
Yesterday it was still at 2710, today it directly smashed through the 2650 lifeline, liquidating over $400 million long positions in 20 minutes, and the ETF has seen outflows for 6 consecutive days—but guess what? Sepolia upgrade succeeded, the chain is fine, what's broken is your position.
First look at the surface: good news landed, price counterattacked.
Glamsterdam activated on Sepolia on time yesterday, protocol-level upgrade, parallel processing, proposer-builder separation all being tested. Sounds like great news?
As a result, ETH dropped from 2710 to 2570, down 3-4% in 24 hours, weaker than BTC. The 30-day gain shrank from +20% to +8%, down 48% from the ATH of 4946.
The candlestick tells you: 2650 was broken with heavy volume, the 2600 psychological level lost, short-term structure has weakened. This is not a testnet failure, this is your stop-loss being cleared repeatedly.
First thing: upgrade succeeded, but the market doesn't buy it—that's the harshest truth.
Glamsterdam activated on Sepolia, no technical issues. Mainnet and Hoodi didn't upgrade early, 2700 wasn't repriced.
In plain language: good news is on the way, but the money has already fled.
Look at the ETF—spot Ethereum ETF has had outflows for 6 consecutive days, totaling $207 million. On Monday alone, $51 million fled. The channel remains, but no new inflows.
What does "narrative remains, funds are gone" mean? This is it.
Retail investors are still waiting for the upgrade to pump the price, institutions are already retreating through the ETF channel. The same news, you see "technical breakthrough," the whales see "distribution window."
Second thing: $400 million liquidated in 20 minutes, your stop-loss is someone else's profit.
There was a window today where over $400 million long positions were liquidated across the market in 20 minutes. ETH itself liquidated about $15 million in 24 hours, mostly longs.
Stop-losses below 2650 were hit repeatedly, so from 2710 to 2570, it fell as fast as free fall.
Harsh truth: you think setting stop-loss is risk control, but actually it just tells the whales where your chips are hidden.
Oil price is the trigger. Iran accelerated attacks on Hormuz oil tankers, Brent surged to 101.5, the dollar strengthened, 10-year US Treasury yield at 5.31%. BTC was hit from 86600 down to 83560. ETH beta is higher than BTC, so it fell harder.
Geopolitical risk + leveraged liquidation, double whammy. This is not ETH's fault, it's your position being too full.
Third thing: the current level is buying oversold, not cheap.
2570 is below the breakdown zone. Daily moving averages haven't fully turned bearish yet, but 2650 was broken with heavy volume, short-term structure weakened. What is volume? It's liquidation, not bottom-fishing.
Key judgments:
Reclaiming 2600 can be a false breakout
Failing to reclaim it means the rebound is just a chance to reduce positions
Daily close below 2480 means short-term deep correction, next support at 2440, 2400
Don't mistake "fell a lot" for "buying opportunity." A 48% retracement hurts, but in 2022 ETH fell from 4800 to 880, an 82% drop. What you think is the bottom might just be halfway down.
Bull vs. bear, judge for yourself:
On one side:
Glamsterdam upgrade progressing as scheduled, no technical issues
Staking lock-up is a mid-term story, L2 and settlement layers intact
2570 is in oversold territory, RSI low
2480-2500 is the next strong support
On the other side:
ETF outflows for 6 consecutive days, $207 million fled
2650 lifeline broken with heavy volume, structure weakened
Iran geopolitical risk escalated, oil at 101.5, dollar and US bonds strong
Fed minutes tonight, hawkish tone could trigger another drop
BTC can't hold 83000, ETH next support at 2480
Key level 2570, only $90 above next support at 2480.
Resistance above: 2600 (just lost psychological level) → 2650 (supply zone) → 2700-2730
Support below: 2570 (current price) → 2480-2500 (next support) → 2440
Remember: no talk of 2770 unless volume pushes back above 2650.
Trading strategy (no nonsense):
Aggressive:
Light long positions near 2570 max, stop-loss 2490. First target 2600, second target 2650. Reduce half at 2590. No adding before the minutes.
Conservative (recommended for most):
Wait for 2480-2500 to consider, stop-loss 2420. Or wait to reclaim 2650 before following. If not reached, stay out. 2570 now is not a bottom, it's a breakdown point.
Breakout:
Only consider chasing if volume firmly holds above 2650 and pullback doesn't break 2600, target 2730. Condition not met now.
Bearish:
Weak rebound at 2600-2630 can be lightly shorted, stop-loss 2660, targets 2500, 2480.
Position rules:
Single trade risk no more than 2% of total capital, leverage no more than 3x. Today 20 minutes wiped out a chunk of longs, don't compete with market speed.
Risk control priority:
Daily close below 2480, reduce positions, next support 2440, 2400
Hawkish minutes or rising oil price, reduce leverage first
If ETF outflows continue this week, 2570 likely to be tested again
ETH now is like itself in June 2022—
During the fall from 4800 to 880, every "bottom-fish" was halfway down. The bottom only appeared when everyone gave up.
ETH at 2570, you're rushing to all-in.
If tomorrow hits 2480, do you still have bullets?
It's not that ETH is weak, it's that you always go full position at breakdown points.
