Understanding Accredited Investor Status
This article is relevant only to users of OKX Singapore.
An Accredited Investor is a person who meets the eligibility requirements set by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and has opted in to be treated as an Accredited Investor by their financial institution. Compared to ordinary (or "retail") customers, Accredited Investors are able to access a wider range of products and services.
Why should I opt in as an Accredited Investor?
Accredited Investors can unlock more opportunities and benefits across earning, spending and trading, along with exclusive rewards and privileges.

How can I qualify as an Accredited Investor?
To qualify as an individual Accredited Investor, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
your income in the preceding twelve months exceeds S$300,000 (or its equivalent in foreign currency); or
your net personal assets exceed S$2 million (or its equivalent in a foreign currency), of which the net value of the primary place of residence can only contribute up to S$1 million; or
your net financial assets exceed S$1 million (or its equivalent in foreign currency).
For corporations, net assets must exceed S$10 million, based on the latest audited financial statements. A corporation may also qualify if all its shareholders qualify as Accredited Investors.
Verify as an Accredited Investor here. You can complete the process in just three simple steps:
Verify your Accredited Investor eligibility via Singpass (~3 minutes) or by uploading relevant income or asset documents
Complete a short knowledge check
Review and accept the relevant terms
Note: In accordance with MAS guidelines, a haircut of 50% will be applied to the market value of your digital asset holdings. Your digital assets holdings can contribute up to S$200,000 towards your net personal assets assessment.
What's the difference between Accredited Investor and VIP status?
Accredited Investor status is a regulatory classification for individuals or corporations that meet the eligibility criteria above and opt in to be treated as Accredited Investors.
VIP status is an OKX account tier determined by your trading volume or assets held on OKX. VIP customers enjoy lower trading fees and receive dedicated Relationship Manager support.
Each status is assessed independently - qualifying for one does not automatically qualify you for the other. To access a broader range of products and enjoy VIP benefits, you can verify as an Accredited Investor and separately qualify for VIP status.
Does opting in as an Accredited Investor mean taking on more risk?
No. Accredited Investor status does not, in itself, increase your level of risk. As an Accredited Investor, you will continue to benefit from important regulatory safeguards, including requirements relating to the segregation and custody of customer assets, which apply equally to both retail customers and Accredited Investors. MAS safeguarding rules apply to customer assets generally and do not give retail customers priority over Accredited Investors solely because of their Accredited Investor classification.
Accredited Investors have access to a broader range of products and services with different risk profiles, giving you greater choice based on your investment objectives and risk appetite.
I'm already an Accredited Investor with another financial institution. Can I also opt in with OKX?
Yes. You can opt in as an Accredited Investor with more than one financial institution. However, your status does not transfer automatically - you’ll still need to verify your eligibility and complete OKX's opt-in process.
