ZEC at 1220 USD, do you dare to bottom-fish?
Yesterday it dropped from 1340 to 1112 in one day, losing 18%, then today it bounced back from 1115 to 1220. Everyone is shouting "V reversal, bottom-fishing"—but no one tells you that 1270 has already been broken. This is not a reversal; it’s a rebound after a breakdown.
First, look at the surface: a bullish candle pulling back looks like a bottom.
ZEC is currently around 1220, with today’s high at 1232 and low at 1115, forcibly pulled back from yesterday’s 1112. It has dropped 15% in 7 days, turned from positive to flat in 30 days, with a market cap of 20.7 billion. The candlestick shows: the daily chart is a long lower shadow rebound after a breakdown, with volume much smaller than during yesterday’s sell-off—all signs hint at one thing: this is not the bottom, it’s a pause in the downtrend.
First point: a rebound does not equal recovery; 1270 is the truth.
On September 26 it was 1697, October 6 at 1384, October 8 at 1112. Do you see this path clearly?
Each step is a lower high, each step is a lower low.
1270 used to be support, but after breaking below on October 8, it has become a "supply zone" overhead. What is a supply zone? It means everyone who bought above 1270 is now waiting to break even by cutting losses.
The 1220 you see today is stuck in the upper middle between 1115 and 1270. There is selling pressure 50 dollars above, and the real bottom is 100 dollars below.
Whoever buys at 1220 is taking over the trapped positions at 1270.
Second point: NU7 upgrade is in November; stop-loss is today.
Many people talk about the NU7 testnet—"Decision day on October 20, mainnet activation on November 5, big positive, hold on!"
Let me translate the real meaning of this sentence:
NU7 is not signed yet, the testnet is still running, and the decision day is 11 days away.
1115 was not caused by a delayed upgrade sell-off, but by stop-loss selling after losing 1270. Using November’s positive news as a reason to buy today—what is that called?
It’s called using a long-term story to cover short-term breakdown.
The testnet advance is a mid-term plus, but until it stands back above 1270, it’s not worth a penny. Declines before positive news materializes never make sense to you.
Third point: The ETF channel still exists but can’t support 1340.
ZCSH split has landed, the ETF channel still exists, but no incremental funds have come in. The channel exists but can’t hold 1340—think about that.
ETF is the pipeline; if no water comes, no matter how big the pipe is, it’s useless.
Adding macro factors: oil price above 102, Fed minutes hawkish, interest rates stuck at 3.75%-4.00%, BTC broke below 83000. As a high-beta asset, ZEC falls sharply when BTC dips.
Yesterday ZEC dropped from 1340 to 1115 in one day, with much greater volatility than BTC. It leads on the way up and leads on the way down—this is not an advantage, it’s leverage.
Bull vs. Bear, you decide:
On one side:
NU7 testnet progressing, decision day October 20 approaching
ETF custody channel still exists, institutional allocation path present
Shield pool function normal, privacy narrative unchanged long-term
Retraced 28% from 1697, technically heavily oversold
On the other side:
1270 broken, 1220 is a rebound after breakdown, not structural repair
18% drop in one day yesterday, stop-loss selling not finished
Zero incremental funds after ETF split landing, can’t support price
Macro hawkish, BTC broke below 83000, risk appetite shrinking
1115 is just yesterday’s low, not a strong bottom
Key level 1220, with 1270 above as the lifeline.
Resistance above: 1230 (today’s high) → 1270-1280 (broken lifeline) → 1310 (7-day close)
Support below: 1180 (rebound start) → 1115 (today’s low, short-term lifeline) → 1050-1080
In short: no volume to stand back above 1270, don’t talk to me about 1340.
Trading strategy
Aggressive:
Don’t chase at 1220. If you really want to act, wait for a pullback to 1160-1180 and then enter very lightly, stop-loss at 1110, targets 1230, 1270. Current price risk-reward is too poor to gamble.
Conservative:
Wait for 1080-1115 to consider, stop-loss 1050. Better approach is to wait for a stand back above 1270 before following. If not reached, stay out; staying out is also a position.
Breakout:
Only consider chasing if volume supports a firm stand above 1270 and pullback does not break 1230, target 1310. This condition is not met now, don’t fantasize.
Bearish:
If 1230-1250 rally lacks strength, you can lightly short the pullback, stop-loss 1275, targets 1180, 1115. But don’t short near 1115—that’s suicidal.
Position rules:
Single trade risk no more than 2% of total capital, leverage no more than 3x. Why? Because ZEC can drop from 1340 to 1115 in one day, and also from 1220 to 1050.
Risk control priority:
Break below 1115 with volume → next target 1050, reduce position first
BTC breaks below 82600 → reduce ZEC leverage accordingly
If October 20 no-go or mainnet delay → short-term expectation sell-off
ZEC now is like Luna before the 2022 crash—
Everyone thinks "it’s dropped so much, it should rebound," but the rebound is just the last chance for those escaping.
You think you’re bottom-fishing, but you’re actually taking over trapped positions at 1270.
1220 is not the bottom; it’s the upper edge of the rebound. Only two things to do: wait to retest 1115, or wait to stand back above 1270.
Don’t go all-in at the upper edge of the rebound.
